Science Week:
Thu 11 Mar 2021In the week commencing 8th March, we celebrated British Science Week 2021 by carrying out various investigations across the school. In Nursery, the children experimented with sweets - they considered what sweets are made of and what happens when sugar comes into contact with warm water. Reception children have been investigating reversible and irreversible changes. They looked at the changes that happen to make toast and ice and investigated whether they could get them back to their original state. The children also made Mother's Day canvases using wax crayon melting. In Key Stage One, children carried out various experiments, including making a water purifier and inventing a new toy. Other experiments included creating 'moving pictures', using magnets to manipulate characters. In Key Stage 2, a range of investigations were taking place - these included making a paddle boat to take part in a race and designing a 'robo-bug'. Well done to all of the children this week who have all been fantastic scientists! To see more details about what all of the year groups have been up to this week, take a look at our Twitter page @Moat_House. -

Testing for children
Mon 01 Mar 2021Children from age 2 upwards can now be tested at the Leisure Centre. It would be really helpful if you could get your child tested before they return on March 8th and then once or twice a week up until Easter. With over a third of people with COVID being asymptomatic and not even knowing they’ve got it, this is a good way of making sure that it’s not being spread at school. Staff at school are currently being tested twice every week for the same reasons.
If your child or anyone else in your household has COVID-19 symptoms (persistent cough, high temperature or loss or change to sense of taste or smell) they must not come to school. You should arrange a test through the online portal or call 119. Household members must self-isolate for 10 days unless the test result is negative. If the result is negative they can stop self-isolating.

Thank you:
Mon 08 Feb 2021Thank you to everyone who is working with us to keep the children learning during this challenging time. I’ve heard some great things from the teachers about how well most children are engaging with their learning and it sounds like there is some serious hard work going on!
You should still be having regular communication with your child’s class teacher about the online learning that they are doing. We expect that all children should complete the work that is set and the government have made it very clear to us that we must do this throughout the lockdown. Teachers are available during the school day to discuss this with you. If you need any support with connecting to wifi or using data please talk to your child’s teacher and we will see what we can do to help. It would be really helpful if you could let your child’s teacher have photographs of any work that they have completed so they can mark it and provide feedback.
I would remind the families who are currently sending their children to school to keep them at home if possible and only send them in if there is no alternative. If your child doesn’t come in on a day we are expecting them can you please contact us to let us know.
If you need any support during the lockdown please phone school on 02476 612073 between 8.30am and 3.30pm or contact the following email: information@moathouse.coventry.sch.uk

Moat House has got talent!
Mon 21 Dec 2020Our Key Stage 1 children showed off their singing, dancing and performing skills in a talent show in the hall on Thursday 17th December, whilst our Key Stage 2 children performed via Zoom. It was super for the children to be able to showcase their talents in front of their friends and they deserve to be congratulated for their efforts! -
Pantomime:
Fri 18 Dec 2020Although our children were not able to enjoy the traditional pantomime experience in our school hall with the whole school, they certainly did not miss out! During the week commencing 14th December, they were able to enjoy a pre-recorded pantomime entitled: Robin Hood, which they watched from the big screen in their classrooms. -
