Nursery: Nursery Garden
Week beginning: 19th June 2023
This week, one of our children noticed a piece of litter on the floor in our Nursery garden. She commented that it should be in the bin and she wanted to pick it up! We talked about doing this safely and then collected the items we needed; a litter picker and a carrier bag to collect the litter and we talked about making sure we washed our hands after. Other children soon noticed what we were doing and were keen to join in! They spread out around the garden, working efficiently together as one big team to collect as much rubbish as they could.
We made links to our learning about mini beasts and the children were able to understand and explain how litter would impact the wildlife in our garden and how, if we wanted to encourage mini beasts to thrive in our space so that we could observe and enjoy them every day, we needed to look after the natural environment and keep it litter free. Great job, Nursery children!
