Hordain 2023

We had an enjoyable weekend in France (again) from 27th - 29th May 2023. Despite taking a small squad of just 9 players, we won four of our matches and lost the other three. This meant that we finished 11th out of 20 teams. During the tournament, Filip scored a total of five goals; the most ever scored by a single Moat House player. However, this would not have been possible without the support of the rest of the team. We are very proud of all of them!

On Thursday 9th February, our football team won convincingly against local rivals, St. Patricks. The team worked well together and created some fantastic chances – the final score was 3:0 and man of the match was awarded to Max.

On Thursday 26th January 2023, some of our children in Key Stage 2 played in a friendly football match against local rivals Henley Green. We were able to field two teams and both teams battled hard to draw in both matches. The scores were 0:0 and 2:2. Congratulations to Filip and Alex for scoring and well done to all of the players for a great team effort.

On Thursday 5th May 2022, our keen football team hosted their first match, against neighbouring St Patrick’s, as part of their preparations for their upcoming European tournament. By the end of the first half, it was neck and neck at 0:0 however into the second half, the St. Patrick’s attack sprung into action and they quickly scored an opening goal. Despite Henley scoring from the penalty spot, Moat House were unable to pull it back and so the final score was 1:5. Well done to Bianca who was awarded the player of the match, for her heroic defending.

On Thursday 29th April 2022, a group of Year 4 and 5 boys and girls took part in a football trial. All of the children were successful and have been invited to take part in the weekly after school football training, with a view to the school being able to take part in competitive matches with other schools, in September. Mr Gilmour and Mr McIlroy are looking forward to working with the children and who knows if we will discover the next Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford or Lucy Bronze amongst our keen and enthusiastic footballers! There are still a few places remaining if anyone else is interested in joining – please see Mr Gilmour for more information. Training will take place every Thursday after school, until 4:20pm and it is important that children bring an appropriate kit, which needs to include football boots/trainers and especially shin pads.
