Highly Sprung:

Year 3 are working through a new Highly Sprung topic called ‘Hidden in Plain Sight’. They are helping Sally solve a mystery after she found a box of artefacts from America, dating back to the 1800s. As a result, they have begun to learn about America in the 1800s and the slave trade, through drama and movement sequences. They are only at the beginning of the topic but they can’t wait to learn more about the mysterious artefacts, as well as William and Eileen Craft.

Please see class windows for half termly updates of when your child will participate in PE (outdoor or indoor)

Swimming in Year 4:

We had a pop-up swimming pool for 2 weeks in October and it will be returning in the Summer Term. The swimming teacher grouped the children according to their ability and developed their swimming skills, which ranged from developing their confidence in water, to building their swimming stamina to enable them to swim for 25 metres, which is the national expectation for the end of Key Stage 2. It would be really beneficial if parents could support this learning by taking children to the local swimming baths, after school or at weekends as it is a skill which could save their life. Please remember: for swimming lessons, boys need to wear swimming trunks that are above the knee and girls need to wear an all in one swimming costume.
