3SH: Law and Power

Week beginning: 6th May 2024

In our history lessons this year, we have been learning about law and power in the Middle Ages. We have learned that King Henry II introduced Common Law and the use of a jury to decide if a person is guilty of a crime. We also learned that - because of King Henry III's actions as king - Simon de Montfort held the first Parliament. We acted out what may have been discussed and agreed upon during this meeting, with a focus on the importance of discussing ideas with others and holding a vote.

During this unit, we have learned about the Magna Carta and the many reasons why it was such an important document, including how it affected our laws and rights today.
