  • Switch off Fortnight

    Mon 29 Nov 2021

The final day for Switch off fortnight was Friday 19th November. It was observed during these two weeks that children (and adults!) became a lot more conscious about switching off appliances and turning off lights. We took meter readings before and afterwards and found that we had used 17% less energy over the fortnight, which is a significant saving! So well done to everybody and just because the official fortnight is over, it doesn’t mean that we should abandon our new habits – let’s keep switching off to save money and save the planet!

  • Year 5 Visits

    Mon 29 Nov 2021

On Thursday 25th November, Year 5 visited the National Space Centre in Leicester. We explored the six galleries there. In the 'Space Oddities' gallery, we were able to see some unusual objects, which revealed some of the less well-known stories in space history. We also explored the forty two metre high 'Rocket Tower' where we were able to see some real rockets. We also watched the show 'Astronauts' in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium.  During the show, we were able to experience a rocket launch from inside the body of an astronaut. We were also able to explore the amazing worlds of inner and outer space, from floating around the International Space Station to manoeuvring through microscopic regions of the human body. We all had a fantastic day and learned lots of information to support our learning in our upcoming science lessons!

  • YR Trip to Coombe Country Park

    Tue 23 Nov 2021

On Thursday 11th November, our Reception children enjoyed an autumnal walk through the grounds of Coombe Abbey. The children spent time spotting and studying signs of autumn, completing a scavenger hunt, and completing leaf and bark rubbings.  Much fun was had climbing over logs, walking through the woods and retelling the story of the bear hunt but the children were most fascinated by the colours of all the different trees!  To finish the day off the children had the opportunity to play in the woodland playground.

  • Remembrance

    Tue 23 Nov 2021

Sadly, we were unable to get any poppies to sell this year but classes still took part in two minutes silence on Thursday 11th November at 11am.

  • British Science Day

    Tue 23 Nov 2021

On Wednesday 10th November, we acknowledged British Science Day 2021. The theme for this year was 'The Future of Science Technology and Innovation: Impacts on Education, Skills, and Work'. Each class had the opportunity to think about how science has influenced and impacted our daily lives. The whole school took part in a competition entitled 'Zoom Out' - there will be a prize for the child with the most correct answers from each year group!
