  • City of Culture

    Mon 29 Mar 2021

City of Culture:  Moat House has been lucky enough to have been selected as one of only twelve schools asked to design a large banner, as part of the City of Culture launch event, titled 'Coventry Moves'. Children in Year 6 designed a banner around the word 'Resilience'. This design will now be turned into a large street banner, which will be on display in Coventry city centre. The children worked incredibly hard on this and are really looking forward to seeing their design on display!

  • COVID-19:

    Fri 12 Mar 2021
We have now had confirmation that the people who we thought might have COVID have tested positive with PCR tests. This means that all of the children and staff in Reception, Year 1 and Year 5 will need to continue to self-isolate until Saturday 27th March. They will be able to return to school on Monday 29th March providing they are well. I met with Public Health England yesterday and they have asked me to let them know if any other children have symptoms or test positive. Can you please let me know if this is the case? So far, nobody else has tested positive so we hope it's an isolated cluster. Any children not at school because of this will continue to have remote learning, as they did in January and February. We have organised for families that had Chromebooks then to get them again so the children can access their work.
  • Science Week:

    Thu 11 Mar 2021
In the week commencing 8th March, we celebrated British Science Week 2021 by carrying out various investigations across the school. In Nursery, the children experimented with sweets - they considered what sweets are made of and what happens when sugar comes into contact with warm water. Reception children have been investigating reversible and irreversible changes. They looked at the changes that happen to make toast and ice and investigated whether they could get them back to their original state. The children also made Mother's Day canvases using wax crayon melting. In Key Stage One, children carried out various experiments, including making a water purifier and inventing a new toy. Other experiments included creating 'moving pictures', using magnets to manipulate characters. In Key Stage 2, a range of investigations were taking place - these included making a paddle boat to take part in a race and designing a 'robo-bug'. Well done to all of the children this week who have all been fantastic scientists! To see more details about what all of the year groups have been up to this week, take a look at our Twitter page @Moat_House.

  • Testing for children

    Mon 01 Mar 2021

Children from age 2 upwards can now be tested at the Leisure Centre. It would be really helpful if you could get your child tested before they return on March 8th and then once or twice a week up until Easter. With over a third of people with COVID being asymptomatic and not even knowing they’ve got it, this is a good way of making sure that it’s not being spread at school. Staff at school are currently being tested twice every week for the same reasons.

If your child or anyone else in your household has COVID-19 symptoms (persistent cough, high temperature or loss or change to sense of taste or smell) they must not come to school. You should arrange a test through the online portal or call 119. Household members must self-isolate for 10 days unless the test result is negative. If the result is negative they can stop self-isolating.

  • Chromebooks

    Mon 01 Mar 2021
We need all the school Chromebooks to be returned as soon as possible to school so that the children can use them in their lessons. If you were loaned a Chromebook to support home learning can you please return it safely to the school office. So that there aren’t long queues can we please have devices from Year 5 & 6 returned on Monday, Year 3 & 4 on Tuesday, Year 1 & 2 on Wednesday and Reception on Thursday. If you can’t come in on the allocated day, please come in on Friday.
  • Illness

    Mon 01 Mar 2021
