Competitions and sports participation for 2024-25
Dodgeball In October, we participated in a Year 4 dodgeball tournament where we came third out of nineteen schools; children all received certificates and medals. The following week we entered a team into the Year 5 dodgeball tournament, again competing with nineteen teams. The team enjoyed taking part and were great ambassadors for the school. Every child who took part was given a certificate.
Football Our first football match of the season was against local rivals St Patrick's. The team played really well and won 8 nil. We followed this up with an 8-3 win away at Joseph Cash in the Cup in November. The team played really well and there was some lovely passing football. A special mention for Bradley and Max who both scored 4 goals!
Our next match was another relatively comfortable 6 nil victory against Henley Green; we look forward to the fixtures resuming in the new year when the evenings are lighter again.
Indoor athletics Our Year 6 children took part in a Sports Hall Athletics Competition on 27th November. The children participated in a range of events, including: relay races, javelin, long jump, triple jump and speed bounce. The team performed fantastically and managed to win lots of the events, including the six lap relay race, which was won with an exceptional performance by Panashe and Munirah! Overall, we finished in third place! Not only were they amazing at the events, they also demonstrated brilliant sportsmanship throughout the day and were very good at cheering on their team mates. Well done Year 6.

SBiTC Joy of Movement
Year 4 took part in a five week programme with Sky Blues in the Community, which was called 'Joy of Movement'. The aim of the programme was to encourage children to lead healthy, active lifestyles and to understand the benefits of exercising regularly. Throughout the programme, they learnt how to identify a physical activity and the impact that physical activity can have on your mental health. They conducted a pulse rate experiment to calculate their resting heart and their heart rate after physical activity to identify the changes to our body and our mood when completing physical activities. They also developed their knowledge of flexibility, stamina and strength and they could identify which skills you would need for different sports. Within each session, they took part in a physical activity session and learnt many new games which can be used to increase their physical activity both in and outside of school. they thoroughly enjoyed playing scarecrow together. They cannot wait for next week's session!
