4ML’s Class Assembly:   We enjoyed learning lots about CS Lewis’ book, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe in 4ML’s assembly on Friday 22nd May. The children shared some of the meanings and messages behind the story and acted parts of it out. One important theme was that we should not be worried about making mistakes as these lead to making progress and learning new things.

Year 6 Performance:  In the week beginning 18th May, Year 6 selected their end of year performance: Rapunzel. They held auditions for roles such as the Barbershop Bros, Prince Teddy, Rapunzel, and many more. Final auditions will take place at the beginning of June and there is lots of excitement, as the children look forward to discovering which part they will play.

Year 6 SATs:      Our Year 6 pupils showed incredible determination throughout SATs in the week commencing 11thn May and they approached each test with focus, resilience and a positive attitude. A huge well done to every child for giving their very best — we are all so proud of you. The children rounded off this demanding week with some Friday fun, consisting of a water fight; it was a well-deserved break, after all their hard work.

Reception trip to Warwick Castle:      On Thursday 14th May, our Reception children enjoyed a trip to Warwick Castle. When first arriving at the castle, the children were greeted by an archer who was doing target practise. The children were wowed by the size of the castle and enjoyed exploring both the king maker exhibition and the state rooms, which allowed them to compare their learning in the classroom with real life exhibitions. In addition, the children were extremely enthusiastic whilst helping the princess find her lost keys in the tower and were fascinated by the bird of prey show. The children also managed to either attend knight school or a “meet and greet” with Zog. They finished the day off having fun in the Zog playground - a fantastic day was had by all!

Year 6 SATs::      Next week, our Year 6 children will be completing their SATs. Here is the timetable for the week:

    • Monday 11th May: Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling (GPS) Papers 1 & 2
    • Tuesday 12th May: Reading
    • Wednesday 13th May: Mathematics Papers 1 & 2
    • Thursday 14th May: Mathematics Paper 3

Ensuring a good night’s sleep and a calm, positive morning routine will really help children feel settled and ready to do their very best. Please encourage your child to come into school each day feeling well-rested, organised and prepared. To support them further, we will be running a SATs Breakfast Club each morning during test week. This will provide a relaxed start to the day, with time to eat, chat with friends and settle any nerves before the tests begin. This will also give them the chance to get some last minute revision! We are incredibly proud of how hard the children have worked this year and we want them to feel confident, supported and ready to shine

Clean up Crew: Children from both Moat House and Castle Wood joined together on Friday 8th May for a campus clean‑up, collecting litter and discovering how small actions can make a big difference. Their enthusiasm helped make the whole site look fantastic, and we’re planning more litter‑picking sessions in the future. Please continue to support our efforts by doing your bit and taking any litter home. Thank you.

RSD Pizza Express Visit:                On Tuesday 28th April, RSD enjoyed a fantastic trip to Pizza Express in Warwick. The children were thrilled to learn how to make their own pizzas, fully immersing themselves in the experience by rolling out dough, spreading tomato passata, and sprinkling cheese before watching their creations go into the oven.  Afterwards, we made our way to Warwick Park, where everyone relaxed with a picnic and had the chance to taste the delicious pizzas, they had prepared themselves. The day ended perfectly with playtime in the park and watching the ducks.

Sky Blue Day     On Monday 27th April, we celebrated Coventry City’s fantastic promotion to the Premier League as Champions. It was wonderful to see so many members of our school community joining in the celebration, with everyone proudly wearing a Coventry City shirt or a sky-blue item of clothing. The day had a real sense of excitement and unity, as pupils and staff alike shared in this special achievement for our local team.
