COVID
Tue 06 Jul 2021A reminder, if anyone in your family has COVID symptoms they should have a PCR test as soon as possible and everyone else in the household must self-isolate until the test result comes through. If the result is negative, self-isolation can stop. If any child has a positive test result can you please let us know immediately as it will affect the other children and staff in that year group. We will let you know about arrangements for September as soon as we know them. Until the government change their guidelines for school we have to carry on as we are.

Sports Week
Tue 06 Jul 2021In the week beginning 21st June, each year group held their own individual sports day, which unfortunately we weren’t able to share with parents, due to Covid restrictions. The children participated in the different events that make up our traditional sports day, including a running race, standing long jump and various throwing events, like the javelin and discus. As usual, the children were all able to earn points for their house team and we will be able to report the final results in next week’s newsletter after the final count has been completed.
As part of Sports Week, classes also got involved with a range of activities that they might not normally enjoy, for example in Year 5 the children took part in Just Dance and in Year 3, the children invented their own sports game, which included them having to decide on the rules, select equipment and even teach the game to their friends!

Refugee Week
Tue 22 Jun 2021In the week commencing 14th June, our children learnt about what it might be like to be a refugee in Great Britain. They found out about the struggles a family could come across eg: loss of family members, language barrier as well as housing or food worries. Each class shared what they had learnt in a Zoom assembly on Friday 18th June and everyone agreed that it had successfully raised awareness across the school.

Olympic Torch
Tue 15 Jun 2021We were very excited to receive the Olympic Torch on Tuesday 8th June. Representatives from Cardinal Wiseman school ran through a Moat House welcoming arch holding the torch aloft, which was accompanied by Moat House claps and cheers. Each class was able to learn about the history and significance of the torch, whilst it was shared around the school. The next day, some of our Year 6 children accompanied Miss Lynch to safely deliver the torch to St. Patrick’s School, where it continued its journey.

Y2 Postbox Walk
Tue 04 May 2021On Friday 30th April, our Year 2 children enjoyed a sunny walk to the local postbox at Potters Green. They all posted a letter to their home address to find out how long it takes for a letter to be received in a traditional way, compared to more up to date electronic communication. The children are currently learning about the internet and considering how it can be helpful or harmful. They are looking forward to their deliveries so please look out for these in the next couple of days.

Performance
Tue 27 Apr 2021On Friday 23rd April, Reception and Key Stage 1 enjoyed a live performance on Zoom called 'The Three Little Pig Tails'. The show was performed by 2 people who used puppets to tell the story. Children were able to sing along as well as copy actions and of course we had the pantomime "BOO" included too! At the end, children were shown how the puppets were created and used and we also had the opportunity to ask questions to the actors. What a lovely way to end the week!

Olympic Torch Relay
Tue 27 Apr 2021A relay has started in Coventry involving many primary and secondary schools where children will have the chance to carry an Olympic torch a short distance. This is happening to recognise the fact that the Olympics will be taking place in Tokyo this summer. We will be participating in the relay in June and we'll let you have more details nearer the time. We hope to involve as many children as possible.
