  • Year 5 Visits

    Mon 29 Nov 2021

On Thursday 25th November, Year 5 visited the National Space Centre in Leicester. We explored the six galleries there. In the 'Space Oddities' gallery, we were able to see some unusual objects, which revealed some of the less well-known stories in space history. We also explored the forty two metre high 'Rocket Tower' where we were able to see some real rockets. We also watched the show 'Astronauts' in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium.  During the show, we were able to experience a rocket launch from inside the body of an astronaut. We were also able to explore the amazing worlds of inner and outer space, from floating around the International Space Station to manoeuvring through microscopic regions of the human body. We all had a fantastic day and learned lots of information to support our learning in our upcoming science lessons!

  • YR Trip to Coombe Country Park

    Tue 23 Nov 2021

On Thursday 11th November, our Reception children enjoyed an autumnal walk through the grounds of Coombe Abbey. The children spent time spotting and studying signs of autumn, completing a scavenger hunt, and completing leaf and bark rubbings.  Much fun was had climbing over logs, walking through the woods and retelling the story of the bear hunt but the children were most fascinated by the colours of all the different trees!  To finish the day off the children had the opportunity to play in the woodland playground.

On Wednesday 10th November, we acknowledged British Science Day 2021. The theme for this year was 'The Future of Science Technology and Innovation: Impacts on Education, Skills, and Work'. Each class had the opportunity to think about how science has influenced and impacted our daily lives. The whole school took part in a competition entitled 'Zoom Out' - there will be a prize for the child with the most correct answers from each year group!

  • Reception Requests

    Wed 20 Oct 2021

Our Reception teachers plan a lot of the learning for children in the outdoor area and they like to take the children outside whether it be rain or shine. If you have any wellies which your children have outgrown and may be suitable to donate, then please think of our Reception children. Wellies for children of age 3 – 6 would be gratefully received – please give any donations to the school office. Thank you.

  • Safety Seymour in Y6

    Wed 20 Oct 2021

On Tuesday 12th October, Year 6 learnt all about the dangers of carbon monoxide, as well as how to detect if it might be present in your home. The children were all very sensible when learning about such a mature topic and by the end of the session they could all explain ways to prevent exposure to CO. All of the children enjoyed the workshop, especially making up their own dances about carbon monoxide!

  • Covid

    Wed 20 Oct 2021

You will be aware that there have been several cases in school since the start of term. Almost all of the staff and pupils who had Covid have now returned to school but we would urge you to remain cautious, carry on doing regular lateral flow tests with your children and get a PCR test for anyone in your family who has any Covid symptoms.
