World Book Day
Tue 08 Mar 2022On Thursday 3rd March, children across the school celebrated World Book Day by dressing up as their favourite book characters. We had some fantastic costumes, ranging from fairy tale characters to those from manga graphic novels. Throughout the day, children took part in live online workshops with famous authors and illustrators, which gave children an insight into the hard work that goes into their jobs as well as giving them the chance to write about (or draw) their own characters. Everybody had a great day and it was lovely to see the effort that went into their costumes – thank you for your support.

They focused on the importance of looking after their mental health, as much as their physical health. The class discussed different types of worries- big or small worries and talked about their five trusted people to speak to about those worries with e.g. friends, family or teachers. The children learned strategies to help them manage anxiety, such as the method to control their breathing whilst sketching around their hand. The class also shared other ways of calming themselves down, like colouring, drawing or exercise. Year 4, were also reminded of the importance of sleep and healthy eating on their mental health, learning that sleep is key in helping the body to recover.
