  • Star Struck Students

    Fri 27 May 2022

We were delighted to welcome BBC CWR radio into Moat House on Wednesday 25th May. As star school on the radio station, some of our children featured on the Breakfast Show and shared recent news about the school, as well as things that they love about Moat House. On Friday 20th May, Kelsey Mai, Abraham and Aria-Noelle shared some interesting facts about Moat House – these can also be seen on the CWR Facebook page.  Harry, Grace, Ashanti and Ryan were live on air on Wednesday 18th May and they also pre-recorded some Moat House news, which went out on air on Friday 27th May. If you missed any of the shows, you can catch them all on the BBC Sounds app.

We are extremely proud to share that we have been awarded with the Primary Science Quality Mark. Miss Hall and Mrs Taylor have worked extremely hard over the past couple of years to lead Science across Moat House and it is a fantastic achievement that acknowledges and recognises Moat House’s commitment and expertise in science leadership, teaching and learning. Look out for the Quality Mark, which you will see in forthcoming letters from the school.

  • Architect Visit in Year 6

    Mon 23 May 2022

On Tuesday 17th May, our Year 6 children were lucky enough to take part in a workshop run by an architect! They learnt all about what the job entails and how to become an architect, before exploring different styles of buildings around the UK. They then learnt specifically about Tudor and Victorian houses, and how they differed from one another and from more modern buildings. Once they'd learnt all about these features, they had the opportunity to design their own building before using junk modelling materials to build their own houses. The children will continue to work on their projects over a few more sessions until they are perfect. Once complete, the finished projects will be showcased in a final workshop where the architect will return to celebrate the children's hard work. Well done Year 6.

  • Football Success

    Mon 23 May 2022

On Thursday 19th May, our football team took on local rivals, Frederick Bird. Furaha opened the scoring with an early goal and Moat House did well to maintain this lead until after half time. The players battled hard to keep a clean sheet but unfortunately it wasn’t to last and the opposition eventually scored. We were delighted with a 1:1 draw at full time and players of the match were Henley, Filip and Riley, who made a crucial line clearance.

  • Radio CWR

    Mon 23 May 2022

Coventry and Warwickshire Radio visited our school on Friday 20th May and captured the moment Dave Moorcroft officially opened the Year 6 stairwell.

  • Athlete Visit

    Mon 23 May 2022

On Friday 20th May, we were delighted to welcome Dave Moorcroft in to Moat House to officially open the stairwell up to the Year 6 classrooms, where a unique Coventry timeline has recently been installed. It was a particularly special event, as it was our first whole school assembly, since the Covid pandemic began and so it was wonderful to see the children from Year 1 to Year 6 altogether again. Dave Moorcroft, who was the world record holder for the 5000 metres from 1982 – 1985, gave us all a fascinating insight into the build up to his amazing athletic achievement and inspired the children with his encouraging words to try your best in all that you do. It was wonderful to meet Dave as he is the namesake for one of our house teams and we hope that he will visit us again soon.
