  • Athlete Visit

    Mon 23 May 2022

On Friday 20th May, we were delighted to welcome Dave Moorcroft in to Moat House to officially open the stairwell up to the Year 6 classrooms, where a unique Coventry timeline has recently been installed. It was a particularly special event, as it was our first whole school assembly, since the Covid pandemic began and so it was wonderful to see the children from Year 1 to Year 6 altogether again. Dave Moorcroft, who was the world record holder for the 5000 metres from 1982 – 1985, gave us all a fascinating insight into the build up to his amazing athletic achievement and inspired the children with his encouraging words to try your best in all that you do. It was wonderful to meet Dave as he is the namesake for one of our house teams and we hope that he will visit us again soon.

  • Attendance Winners

    Tue 17 May 2022

After the success of last half term’s Wheel of Winners for children with 100% attendance, we repeated the lucky wheel of fortune on Friday 6th May. Once again, ten names were randomly chosen to win a voucher. The children were selected by the wheel and they have already received their prize; the winners are as follows: Evie, Leo (Year 1), Kian, Umar, Hope (Year 2), Jayden, Mariana (Year 4), Amelia, Maicey-Leigh (Year 5) and Michael (Year 6), Well done to everyone who achieved 100% attendance - keep up the good work and maybe you will be lucky enough to be chosen by the wheel at the beginning of next half term!

  • School Bank

    Tue 17 May 2022

Our “super saving” children were in with a chance of winning an extra contribution to their bank account simply for joining the school bank and depositing their pocket money! The children were selected randomly on Friday 6th May and will be rewarded with £5 (this will be deposited directly into their bank account in due course). The lucky winners are as follows: Senai, Aariana, Henley, Mohamed, Shamil, Riley, Amelia, Samiha, Inayah and Julian. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning a prize in our next draw, all you need to do is join our school bank or continue to deposit money into your account – it can even be as little as 1p!

  • Y6 SATs

    Tue 17 May 2022

Our Year 6 children completed their Key Stage 2 SATs in the week beginning 9th May. Staff were very impressed with the attitude and behaviour of all the children and we know that whatever the results are, the children couldn’t have worked any harder. We would like to say a huge well done to all of the children (and parents!) for excellent attendance during this week.

  • Young Voices

    Mon 09 May 2022

On Friday 29th April, some children from KS2 participated in the Young Voices concert at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham. During the show, they sang a range of songs, including hits from 'The Lion King' and a medley of songs by The Beatles, to a full audience with children from twelve other schools. Moat House children were particularly fantastic at singing 'Power in Me'. They were able to work with a conductor as well as sing and dance alongside some very talented performers, including singer Ruby Turner and dance group Urban Strides. They particularly enjoyed learning to beat box with The Beatbox Collective, who are World Beatbox Champions! Everyone had a fantastic day and sang on the coach the whole way home!

  • Reception Trip

    Mon 09 May 2022

On Tuesday 3rd May, the Reception children enjoyed a trip to Warwick Castle as part of their topic.  On arriving at the castle, the children were amazed by the size of the castle! The children enjoyed exploring both the king maker exhibition and the state rooms, which demonstrated how and what the castle would have looked like in the past.  They were then treated to a fantastic birds of prey show with condors, owls, eagles and vultures swooping over their heads!  The day ended with fun in the new Zog playground and the children especially enjoyed putting the staff in the stocks!  A fantastic time was had by all and the children were a credit to the school.

  • Football Match

    Mon 09 May 2022

On Thursday 5th May, our keen football team hosted their first match, against neighbouring St Patrick’s, as part of their preparations for their upcoming European tournament. By the end of the first half, it was neck and neck at 0:0 however into the second half, the St. Patrick’s attack sprung into action and they quickly scored an opening goal. Despite Henley scoring from the penalty spot, Moat House were unable to pull it back and so the final score was 1:5. Well done to Bianca who was awarded the player of the match, for her heroic defending.

  • Orchestra Experience

    Fri 06 May 2022

On Wednesday 27th April, twelve Year 6 students were lucky enough to visit the Warwick Arts Centre to watch the Halle Orchestra perform. The orchestra was founded in 1858 and was Britain's first fully professional symphony orchestra. The orchestra is made up of a range of string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments and the children were especially fascinated when a large piano appeared on the stage after the break! Three symphonies were played during the evening from three famous composers: Vaughan Williams, Mozart and Sibelius. The children thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were mesmerised by the beautiful music. The staff at the Arts Centre also commented on how beautifully behaved the children were. Well done Year 6!

  • Wall Art

    Fri 06 May 2022

It was lovely to welcome our children back to school after the Easter break and it was especially delightful to see their reactions to our stunning wall art that is now on display in the shared areas of KS1, KS2, as well as the corridor leading up to the Year 6 classrooms. The curriculum themed wall art has been specifically designed to support the children with their learning. The Year 6 design has a Coventry theme, which is entirely unique and features information about the Coventry icons, who represent our school house teams: Godiva, Herbert, Mowlam and Moorcroft.
