Prime Minister’s Question Time:
Mon 01 May 2023On Wednesday 26th April, some members of our School Council filmed short videos to take part in a competition, whereby they could pose a question to our Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak. Our children: Kelsey, Erik, Hishaam and Saida asked thought provoking questions so we are now looking forward to hearing if one of our questions is actually selected to ask the Prime Minister! See our website for the video clips.

Star School:
Mon 01 May 2023In the week beginning 24th April, Moat House was the featured school on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Radio, which meant that every day 2-4 children were heard showcasing Moat House, on the radio’s Breakfast Show. Our children: Max, Ezekiel (Y4), Raluca, Philip, Milan, Liam, Laycie (Y5), Raisa, Amie and Lamin (Y6) did a fantastic job of representing the school. The broadcasts included the following features: live in the playground, meet the school, star school news and a tour of the school. They even planted some sunflower seeds, as part of the show’s Get Into Nature feature. If you missed the live editions of the show, you can catch up on BBC Sounds and tune in to Phil Upton’s Breakfast Show.

5JK’s Class Assembly:
Mon 01 May 2023On Friday 28th April, we enjoyed finding out about the learning in 5JK. They have been discovering information about Australia and were able to share many interesting facts. We were fascinated to find out that Australia is thirty two times bigger than the United Kingdom and that 80% of the country consists of desert! Finally, we thoroughly enjoyed listening to the musical talents of Philip, Ibtihaj, Tyrone, Leo and Zackarie, who played a musical extract on their brass instruments - they have learnt so much in their music lessons this year. Thanks 5JK.

School Timings:
Mon 24 Apr 2023Last year the Government stated that a school week should be at least 32.5 hours from when the morning register is done until the children go home. This means that our school day is currently 10 minutes too short. We will be consulting with parents over the coming weeks to find out what your preferred change would be; either we do morning registers at 8.50am (doors will open at 8.40am) or we finish at 3.30pm instead of 3.20pm. You will get a text to tell you when the consultation has begun.

Wonder Wall:
Mon 24 Apr 2023After the Easter holiday, our Year 6 children were surprised and very impressed with the new music wall, which has been installed in the Year 6 corridor. The music wall is a unique design and illustrates the history and development of music over the years from 1473 to the present day. It even features QR codes, which can be scanned to listen to a particular piece of music – we can’t wait to share this with the rest of the school!

King’s Coronation:
Mon 24 Apr 2023On Friday 5th May, we are planning a range of exciting activities to celebrate the King’s Coronation. On this day, children are invited to come in to school dressed in red, white and blue (or even regal purple). They will also spend the day participating in a range of activities including making flags, crowns, designing paper plates, enjoying a picnic and taking part in a whole school coronation quiz.

World Maths Day:
Mon 27 Mar 2023On Thursday 23rd March, we invited children to come to school dressed or represented as a number to acknowledge World Maths Day. There were dots, sequins and numbers galore and class teachers took the opportunity to explore maths and demonstrate that maths is all around us and affects everything we do.
