  • Marvellous Moat House

    Tue 13 Jul 2021

There were three different badge designs which have been submitted to Marvellous Me as part of a school competition, to be turned into awards.  Each of them represented a different point of our school values, which go on to support our school ethos.  Well done to Livia (Y3), Alicja (Y5) and Arsema (Y6) for their winning designs. Look out for the winning designs in awards that children will be achieving in the new academic year.  Thanks to all those who took part; the standard was high and it was very difficult for the School Council to decide on the winners.

  • Year 5 Transition Support

    Tue 13 Jul 2021

On Monday 5th July, Year 5 took part in a virtual transition workshop, 'Embracing Change'. The workshop was led by Coventry's Early Mental Health Team.  We discussed any worries that we might have about going into Year 6 and to secondary school and learned the different ways in which we can manage these concerns. This included using a 'worry tree' to identify our worries and decide how to manage them, as well as the use of grounding techniques to help us calm down in situations where we find ourselves feeling anxious. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session and said that they found it extremely useful in preparing them for the changes that will happen over the next few years!

  • Year 6 Transition Support

    Tue 06 Jul 2021

On Tuesday 29th June, the Year 6 children took part in a transition to secondary school workshop, entitled Embracing Change. The workshop was delivered by two educational mental health practitioners and covered questions around moving to secondary school. Children were shown relaxation techniques and discussed any worries they might have about moving to a new school. At the end of the session, children took their booklets home to complete home tasks linked to the workshop.

  • Skint to Mint in Year 6

    Tue 06 Jul 2021

In the week commencing 28th June, we had the opportunity to talk with Kennedy from the Skint-to-Mint company. We learnt about different financial struggles and different strategies to prevent these difficulties. We also discussed ways to make money in order to provide a better future for ourselves. To add to this, we also played exciting games about money. We all enjoyed this very much! Reported by Ndey and Ruvarashe.

  • COVID

    Tue 06 Jul 2021

A reminder, if anyone in your family has COVID symptoms they should have a PCR test as soon as possible and everyone else in the household must self-isolate until the test result comes through. If the result is negative, self-isolation can stop. If any child has a positive test result can you please let us know immediately as it will affect the other children and staff in that year group. We will let you know about arrangements for September as soon as we know them. Until the government change their guidelines for school we have to carry on as we are.

  • Sports Week

    Tue 06 Jul 2021

In the week beginning 21st June, each year group held their own individual sports day, which unfortunately we weren’t able to share with parents, due to Covid restrictions. The children participated in the different events that make up our traditional sports day, including a running race, standing long jump and various throwing events, like the javelin and discus. As usual, the children were all able to earn points for their house team and we will be able to report the final results in next week’s newsletter after the final count has been completed.

As part of Sports Week, classes also got involved with a range of activities that they might not normally enjoy, for example in Year 5 the children took part in Just Dance and in Year 3, the children invented their own sports game, which included them having to decide on the rules, select equipment and even teach the game to their friends!
