In the week beginning 26^th September, Year 2 enjoyed a walk around the local area. As part of their Geography work, they have been learning about human and physical features of the surrounding environment. The children enjoyed walking past familiar places and pointing out and discussing where they live or places they visit.

On Tuesday 27^th September, our Year 4 children, participated in a mental health awareness workshop. This included giving the children strategies to help self-regulate their emotions. The children talked and learned about the fact that we don't always have control over our emotions and that's ok, however we are able to calm and self soothe. ourselves They learned strategies to improve and keep a healthy mind set by learning new things, acknowledging, and thanking others for helping us and going for walks or completing activities which keep us happy and positive. The children were very engaged and were keen to take the self-regulation sheet home to complete and keep as a help sheet. 

Thank you to all of our parents, family and friends, who attended our Coffee Morning on Friday 30^th September and ensured that it was a great success. The children did not miss out and enjoyed buying a cake to support the cause during the day. A big thank you must go to Mrs Kriaun, Miss O’Donnell, Mrs Edwards, Mr McIlroy, the school kitchen and the school council, who worked so hard to make the day run smoothly.

Parents’ Evening: Thank you to everyone who attended the ‘settling in’ parents’ evening on Thursday 29^th September. It is important that we meet with you throughout the year so that we can update you with your child’s life at school. If you were unable to make the date, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher, who will be happy to meet you at a more convenient time. There will be a further parents’ evening later on this term, where you will be invited to make an appointment to find out more information about your child’s progress and attainment – please see the dates section of our website.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for your contributions of cakes for our Macmillan Coffee morning

Macmillan Coffee morning:             On Friday 23^rd September, we will be holding a non-uniform day in exchange for a donation of shop bought cakes (which will need to be in date and edible for at least a week). The following week (Friday 30^th September), we will be participating in the national Macmillan coffee morning. Parents, carers, relatives and friends are invited to join us in the school dining area from 9:15 am – 10:15 am, to enjoy a coffee (or tea) and a cake for a small donation. Our children, of course, will not be missing out - there will be a cake sale during the day, so children are invited to bring along 20p to buy a cake. We look forward to welcoming you in school and we would like to thank you for supporting us to raise money for the fabulous work that the Macmillan nurses do.

Swimming lessons for our Year 4 children will commence on Friday 23^rd September and will then continue every Friday afternoon – the children will travel by coach to the Alan Higgs Centre and will be taught by a qualified swimming instructor. On their first day. the children will be assessed in their water confidence and swimming ability and will then be grouped, in order to progress their water and swimming skills. Your child will need to ensure that he/she brings in a swimming costume or swimming trunks (sports shorts are not allowed), as well as a towel. The children will return to school before 3:20pm so that they can be collected at the usual time.
