On Thursday 5^th May, our keen football team hosted their first match, against neighbouring St Patrick’s, as part of their preparations for their upcoming European tournament. By the end of the first half, it was neck and neck at 0:0 however into the second half, the St. Patrick’s attack sprung into action and they quickly scored an opening goal. Despite Henley scoring from the penalty spot, Moat House were unable to pull it back and so the final score was 1:5. Well done to Bianca who was awarded the player of the match, for her heroic defending. 

On Wednesday 27^th April, twelve Year 6 students were lucky enough to visit the Warwick Arts Centre to watch the Halle Orchestra perform. The orchestra was founded in 1858 and was Britain's first fully professional symphony orchestra. The orchestra is made up of a range of string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments and the children were especially fascinated when a large piano appeared on the stage after the break! Three symphonies were played during the evening from three famous composers: Vaughan Williams, Mozart and Sibelius. The children thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were mesmerised by the beautiful music. The staff at the Arts Centre also commented on how beautifully behaved the children were. Well done Year 6!

It was lovely to welcome our children back to school after the Easter break and it was especially delightful to see their reactions to our stunning wall art that is now on display in the shared areas of KS1, KS2, as well as the corridor leading up to the Year 6 classrooms. The curriculum themed wall art has been specifically designed to support the children with their learning. The Year 6 design has a Coventry theme, which is entirely unique and features information about the Coventry icons, who represent our school house teams: Godiva, Herbert, Mowlam and Moorcroft.

Many classes enjoyed Easter fun in their classes/phases in the week beginning 4^th April. In EYFS, the children participated in an Easter bonnet competition, which also included the staff! In Key Stage 1, the children made Easter nests and cards. In Key Stage 2, the children enjoyed Easter egg hunts as well as egg decorating.

On Tuesday 5^th April, Y3 visited the Thinktank Science Museum in Birmingham. The children had the opportunity to become scientists and perform experiments linked to states of matter. They also got to make slime using PVA glue and borax. Then, they became palaeontologists, studying fossils and dinosaur remains. After that, the children explored the science garden, which was the highlight of the day for most children! They learnt about different mechanisms used within engineering and were able to perform experiments with water too. Finally, the children explored the museum galleries. They learnt about the human body and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It was a fantastic day and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves!  

On Wednesday 6^th April, we held our termly Governors’ Awards ceremony. The presentation was held via a Zoom video call, whilst all of the children remained in their classes. It was lovely for all of the children to watch their friends receive their awards and it meant that even our Chair of Governors was able to participate. The following children were awarded with a certificate and a voucher for their hard work and achievements during the Spring term.
