Moat Fest:
Mon 24 Jul 2023To celebrate the end of the year, as well as their time at Moat House, our Year 6 children were rewarded with an after-school, festival themed party on Tuesday 18th July! After raising a toast, the children spent the evening dancing and enjoying time with their friends, playing party games, posing in the photo booth or playing football in the inflatable stadium we hired. The children loved dressing up in their festival outfits and accessorising with flower garlands, eye gems and temporary tattoos! Everybody had a great time and took the opportunity to say some goodbyes to their friends before they move on to secondary school. Good luck Year 6!

There was an opportunity for parents to come in to school to discuss their child’s report on Wednesday 19th July.

Aladdin:
Mon 24 Jul 2023Our Year 6 children excelled themselves in the week commencing 17th July, with two performances of the pantomime, Aladdin. Parents, staff and children thoroughly enjoyed the show and didn’t want it to end. We enjoyed their singing and acting, as well as the traditional pantomime characters and jokes. Special mentions must go to Paloma, Furaha, Amie and Filip for their bravery in solo singing, whilst Leni as Widow Twankey really made his character come alive. Well done Year 6!

Year R Assembly:
Mon 24 Jul 2023On Friday 14th July, we enjoyed a super assembly, courtesy of our Reception children. They have been learning a lot about the ocean, which has included pirates, ocean creatures and looking after the ocean and seaside. We especially enjoyed the Ocean Jam and Sea Shanty, which were both very catchy and had everyone joining in. Thanks Reception!

Precious Lives:
Mon 24 Jul 2023On Thursday 13th July, our Year 6 children took part in a 'Precious Lives' workshop, which was run by the West Midlands Police. During the session, the children discussed their futures and their ambitions and were given the opportunity to consider how the choices they might make, could affect these aspirations. They also considered how their friendship and peer groups could have a positive or negative effect on their futures. The children all listened thoughtfully throughout and were very sensible when some serious and mature themes were discussed.

EYFS and Year 1 trip to Twin Lakes:
Mon 24 Jul 2023On Wednesday 12th July, Nursery and Reception enjoyed a visit to Twin Lakes, where they experienced the thrills of the rides, a farm, soft play, climbing frames, as well as the water park. Not surprisingly, the water park was the firm favourite, as the children not only enjoyed the slides but were extremely excited to be able to soak their teachers! All of the children were very well behaved and had a fantastic time. Thank you to all the staff and parents who came and supported us on this trip.

Year 5s Busy Week:
Mon 24 Jul 2023On Monday 10th July, our Year 5 school councillors (Mariana, Kevin, Abdi and Brooklyn) visited Castle Wood to discuss ideas about what we should call the shared Forest School site. The nominated names were proposed as a result of both school councils having discussions with the children in their classes – watch this space to find out the final decision. On Tuesday 11th July, three Year 5 children (Aysam, Aria-Noelle and Raluca) travelled to the University of Warwick to represent Moat House at the Pupil Parliament. They worked in groups with other children from across Coventry to discuss things like being safe in our city, their aspirations and opportunities and the barriers to these. The children also had the opportunity to question a group of panellists made up from some of our cabinet members from Coventry City Council, representatives from Health, University of Warwick and from EON. Their questioning was very astute and they were all perfect representatives for Moat House. On Wednesday 12th July, a group of Year 5 children visited Soho Sonic Studios, which is a recording studio in London. The children travelled on an Avanti train from Coventry to Euston and then got to experience the London Underground. During the visit, the children got to record a song in a professional recording studio and were taught about the process of recording and editing a song. They then got to eat their lunch in a board game café. All of the children behaved brilliantly and had an amazing day.
