6CB’s Class Assembly: On Friday 9th October, we were treated to a fantastic and highly entertaining assembly presented by 6CB. The children shared their aspirations and ambitions for the future, telling us about the careers and opportunities they hope to pursue as they grow older. Most importantly, they reminded us that the future is not defined simply by the job we have, but by the kind of person we choose to become. Thank you, 6CB, for such a thoughtful and inspiring assembly. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
NHS Visitors: Our children in Reception had some special NHS visitors on Friday 9th October to teach them all about the importance of handwashing. The children learnt all about the spread of germs and why it is important to cough into their sleeve, the reasons why we need to wash our hands and how to make sure they are washing their hands properly. The children even learnt a funny song to support them in their handwashing! Hopefully we should all have exceptionally clean hands from now on!
Phonics: Thank you to those parents who came in to school to find out how we teach our children to read, on Wednesday 7th October. Our consultant (Caroline Carter) from Read Write Inc spoke to Reception and Year 1 parents about the principles of the scheme, as well as the statutory Year 1 phonics screening test, which will happen in June 2027. We hope it was helpful and hope that you can support your children with their reading at home – look out for QR codes on Class Dojo for virtual phonics lessons.
BT Event: On Tuesday 6th October, Year 6 took part in an exciting virtual experience with BT Group, giving them a unique opportunity to step into the digital world of work. During the session, pupils met BT ambassadors, explored a range of future career pathways, and learned about emerging technologies and their impact on everyday life. The event also included interactive activities that helped pupils develop their understanding of the workplace and encouraged them to think about future opportunities and careers in the digital sector.
Geography Walk: As part of their Geography learning, Year 2 enjoyed a walk to Bell Green Library to explore the local area on Monday 5th October. Along the way, the children identified a range of local landmarks and discussed the physical features they could see. They demonstrated excellent geographical knowledge and observation skills, showing that they are becoming excellent geographers! The children were a credit to the school throughout the visit, behaving wonderfully and representing us with pride. Well done, Year 2!
