Last Weeks News 4th Sept 26

Welcome Back:     It was great to see the children back in school on Wednesday 2nd September and I hope that they have all enjoyed their first few days in their new classes. They were all very smartly dressed and looked wonderful! The Year 6 children looked especially grown up in their new black sweatshirts and seem ready to take on the mantle of being role models for the rest of the school, whilst our Reception children have settled into their first days of school life beautifully. I am looking forward to another exciting year at Moat House and look forward to meeting you at Parents’ Evening, class assemblies or on the playground at the start or end of the school day.

Class Assemblies: Please make a note of your child’s class assembly date, as detailed below. It is always a joy for us to invite you into school to share with you what your children have been learning. Please note these may be subject to change, so keep an eye on Class Dojo when it gets close to your child’s class assembly.

School uniform:    Thank you for sending your child to school looking very smart in their school uniform. Although tops don't need to have a school badge on them, they are still a real cost and we would urge you to write your child's name and class on the labels. Every year, hundreds of pounds worth of uniform and coats end up in lost property and most of it stays there as there are no names on it. Please, take 30 seconds to write their name on their clothes. Please also ensure that children bring the correct PE kit on their designated PE days.

Smart watches:    These must not be worn in school due to potential safeguarding concerns.

Change to Late Processes: For the academic year starting in September 2026, we have implemented a slight adjustment to our procedure for children arriving late to school. Any child arriving after 8:45am must enter through the main office and parents/carers will be asked to record their own child's arrival in a designated folder, supervised by a member of staff. Parents and carers must remain with their child until the arrival details have been recorded. Once this has been completed, the child will be able to proceed to their classroom.  Early Years children will be accompanied to class by a member of staff. Year 5 and Year 6 children, who have permission to walk independently, will be recorded by staff before making their way to class. Thank you for your cooperation and support in ensuring the safe arrival of all pupils.

Class Dojo: We encourage all parents to sign up to Class Dojo, as it is an important platform for sharing class news, celebrations and updates. However, please note that KS2 teachers do not have the capacity to regularly monitor or respond to messages through Class Dojo. If you need to contact your child's teacher, please do so via the school office or by speaking to them at the classroom door at the beginning or end of the day.

Future star:    Congratulations to Nadia (Year 3) who will be representing Coventry in the Little Miss Teen UK competition in Glasgow this weekend. We would like to wish her the best of luck in the finals!
