Hado Event: On Wednesday 21st October, a group of Year 6 children took part in a HADO competition against five other schools. The children had a fantastic time competing, showing great teamwork, enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the event. We are proud to share that Team 1 finished 3rd in their group, while Teams 2 and 3 both achieved an impressive 2nd place in their groups. Well done to all the children for representing Moat House so positively – they all received a certificate in assembly this morning! ππ
Phonics in Reception: A big thank you to our Reception parents who attended our phonics sessions on Wednesday 21st October. These opportunities allow families to see first-hand the techniques and language used in school, ensuring a consistent approach between home and classroom. By working together and practising these skills regularly at home, we can give children the best possible start in learning to read. πβ¨
Hallowe’en Disco Fun: We held a Hallowe’en disco on Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st October and they were both a great success, providing children with the opportunity to socialise, dance and celebrate together! With music, laughter and delicious treats from the tuck shop, the events were a memorable experience for everyone involved. ππΆπΊπ
Coombe Abbey Trip: On a very wet Tuesday 20th October, EYFS enjoyed a trip to Coombe Abbey. The children explored the trees looking for signs of Autumn including conkers, colour changing leaves and squirrels gathering their nuts. An exciting walk round the woods allowed the children to climb trees, jump through puddles, throw leaves and even cross a river! The trip finished in the big outdoor playground, which everyone enjoyed. Despite the weather and very wet staff and children they all had a wonderful time and learnt lots about Autumn!
Year 5 Cricket: During our final PE session of the academic year with the All Stars Cricket coach, the children combined maths, teamwork and problem-solving skills to complete a range of cricket-based challenges. The session ended with an exciting game of quick cricket, giving everyone the opportunity to showcase their batting, bowling, throwing and catching. We certainly have some promising cricketers among us - look out England Cricket Team!
