Last Weeks News 17th April 26
PCSOs visit the Nursery: On Monday 13th April, our Nursery welcomed two PCSOs to Moat House. They came to talk to the children about the important work they do in our community and how they help to keep everyone safe. The children were especially excited to try on the uniforms and hats the officers brought along, which made the visit even more memorable!
Ancient Egypt Day: On Monday 13th April, our Year 3 children enjoyed a fantastic Ancient Egypt Day to celebrate the end of last half term’s History topic. The day was filled with a range of creative arts and crafts activities, allowing the children to showcase their learning in a fun and engaging way. They used tea bags to stain paper to create an aged papyrus effect, before writing messages to their parents in hieroglyphics, using charcoal. The children also made impressive Sphinx sculptures from clay and designed beautiful Queen Nefertiti-inspired collars using paper plates and pasta. To complete the day, they drew detailed images of their favourite Egyptian gods and goddesses in their sketchbooks. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and creativity from all of the children, and a great way to round off their learning on Ancient Egypt.
Year 4 Swimming: Our Year 4 children have enjoyed developing their swimming skills in our “pop up pool” in the week beginning 13th April. They have had a lesson every day and this will continue until Friday 8th May. Many of the children are already making fantastic progress and they are much more confident in the water! Well done Year 4!
Careers Day: As part of our Life Skills curriculum, children learn about careers they may wish to have when they grow older. They learn about different job roles and the skills and qualifications required to fulfil their ambitions. Within this curriculum, children learn to share their likes and dislikes, identify their own positive qualities and skill sets and how to set short-term and long-term goals. Therefore, on Friday 24th April we are giving children the opportunity to come to school in clothing to reflect the job they might like to do when they get older. This can be a chef, builder, dancer, scientist, footballer or even a magician! Please join Class Dojo (if you haven’t already) to stay connected with all our latest school news and to keep up to date with important information.
Library Competition: Last half term, we were delighted to open our school library to families after school and it has been wonderful to see so many children visiting with their parents to choose books to enjoy at home. This term, we hope to welcome even more families through our doors. To support this, we will be launching a class competition. Each time a child visits the library they will earn a point for their class and once a class reaches 50 visits, they will receive a prize. We look forward to seeing many more of you in the library this half term. Just a reminder that the library is open from 3:20pm, Tuesday to Thursday.
