Last Week's News 10th July 26

4NK Class Assembly:  Thank you to 4NK for a lovely assembly on Friday 10th July, which focussed on the theme of feelings and expressing your emotions. The children told us about the story they have been reading called Jabari Jumps, which tells the story of a young boy who is preparing to jump off a diving board for the first time and his feelings related to this. Elijah and Michaela performed a fantastic rap and the whole class concluded their performance by singing Fight Song by Rachel Platten. Thanks 4NK!

Year 6 Careers Day:   Our wonderful Year 6 children took part in our annual careers event on Friday 10th July, where our learners were interviewed by real life business owners and representatives for job roles, across many different sectors. The event started with students completing an application form and personal statement to support their submission. As with any other job, they then contacted the school office to arrange their interview time and date. The day started with children arriving at school dressed smartly for their interviews then, throughout the afternoon our interviewees took part in their interviews with our supportive volunteers. A huge thank you goes to RFG Financial, Coventry Building Society, Keon Homes, Diverse Housing and our incredible school governors. We look forward to running the event again next year!

Governors’ Awards:   On Thursday 9th July, a special ceremony was held to recognise children at Moat House, who have worked hard or shown good behaviour or attitude during the Summer term. The following children were awarded with a certificate and a voucher, in front of a very proud audience of parents, governors and staff, for their hard work and achievements.

Attendance Reward:  On Wednesday 8th July, Mrs Bivens invited 45 children who achieved 99% and above in their school attendance, to a movie afternoon in the hall. The movie chosen was Toy Story with a few saying that they actually hadn’t watched the classic movie. Popcorn, cookies and drinks were enjoyed and many a laugh was had; well done to all of the children for their fantastic attendance!

Sports Day:     Sports day was held on Monday 6th July for Key Stage 2 and Wednesday 8th July  for Reception and Key Stage 1. All of the children competed to earn points for their houses in a range of activities, including skipping, the javelin and an obstacle course. The winning team was Mowlam and with only one point behind, Godiva were a very close second!. We would like to say a huge thank you to parents, carers, friends and family for coming along to support the children and especially our Year 6 children, who did a super job of supporting the younger children to ensure that the events ran smoothly.

Year 1 Soft Play:     As part of the 45 things to do before you leave Moat House, Year 1 visited a soft play on Tuesday 7th July. Children explored the different areas and had a great time playing together. They raced up ladders and flew down slides with their friends. They all showed fantastic behaviour to each other and other children. A member of the public also commented on how well the children were playing and how kind and caring they were. They made us very proud.
