Last Weeks News 7th March 25
World Book Day: Our children had a great time dressing up as book characters for World Book Day on Thursday 6th March– thank you, parents and carers, for your support with this. Teachers went to different classes to read their favourite stories to children and everyone enjoyed the focus on reading for pleasure.
Highly Sprung in Year 4: On Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th March,, Year 4 participated in a Physical Theatre workshop with Highly Sprung. The children learnt that Physical Theatre is a mix of dance movements, acting and spoken words to tell a story. They played lots of different movements games which they thoroughly enjoyed but their favourite game to play was named zombie! They created freeze frame sticky shapes to retell sections of the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children were taught a series of partner lifts which were then incorporated into their final performance: a retelling of The Three Little Pigs. The children showed a great level of enthusiasm throughout the workshop and they thoroughly enjoyed it!
Year 6 Aspirations: Some of our Year 6 children participated in an Aspirations workshop at Little Heath Primary School on Tuesday 4th March. The workshops included Severn Trent Water, a construction company, the Armed Forces, as well as the Prince’s Trust. The workshops gave the children the opportunity to listen to stories and achievements and they were able to ask questions about potential future careers. The children all came away feeling very inspired! Another fifteen children visited Warwick University to learn more about university life. First, they participated in an engineering workshop, where they had to build the tallest tower they could out of paper. The tower had to have a working light at the top so it required a lot of problem-solving to ensure the circuit was long enough! After that, the children learnt about different aspects of university, including the range of courses and societies available to them. They were given the opportunity to ask current university students questions about the application process and their subjects. They ended the day with a tour of the campus and completed a sculpture trail to see the lovely artwork in the area. Overall, the children had a great day and are excited about the prospect of going to university in the future!
Year 1 Visit the Library: In the week beginning 3rd March, Year 1 visited Bell Green Library. They were very excited and many children pointed out parts of the local area that they were familiar with. Once there, we met the librarian and learnt about the different books that they had, which included fiction, non-fiction and poetry. We had time to browse the books and read some of them and the librarian read some of her favourites to us too. We had such a great visit and we hope to return again next half term!
