Year 4 Swimming
As part of our commitment to physical development and life skills, Year 4 children will take part in swimming lessons during the school year. Children are grouped by ability, allowing the swimming teacher to tailor support and help each child progress — from building confidence in the water to developing stamina and technique. The national expectation is that all children should be able to swim 25 metres by the end of Key Stage 2.
We encourage parents and carers to support this vital learning by visiting local swimming baths outside of school hours. Swimming is not only a fantastic way to stay active — it’s a life-saving skill that builds confidence and independence.
Swimming Kit Reminder For swimming lessons, please ensure your child is appropriately dressed:
Boys: Swimming trunks that are above the knee
Girls: A one-piece swimming costume
Thank you for helping us keep children safe, confident, and ready to succeed in the water!
