2024-25

Autumn Term

Year 2 look forward to spending, an action-packed day at Conkers on Tuesday 17th December. The children will tackle an assault course and maze before lunch and then spend some time in the outdoor play area. There are swings, climbing frames, a zip line and slides. This will be a great way to end the term.

Spring Term

45 children from Year 6 will be visiting Plas Dol-y-Moch in Blaenau Ffestiniog from 10th - 14th February where they will participate in a number of outdoor activities; these will include kayaking, orienteering, a mountain day, a navigation activity (children will need to follow their maps to find their way back to the centre independently) and beach scrambling. Whilst there, children will have lots of opportunities to work together as teams during activities such as Night Line and Labyrinth and, most importantly, when competing to see which is the best kept bedroom!

2023 -24

Autumn Term

Year 2 spent a fun-filled, action-packed day at Conkers on Wednesday 25th October. It was go, go, go from start to finish! The children tackled an assault course and maze before lunch and then enjoyed a train ride to an enormous outdoor play area. There were swings, climbing frames, a zip line and slides. Well done to all of Year 2 for representing Moat House so incredibly. A great way to end the half term.

Spring Term

Last week, our Year 6 children spent an action-packed week at Dol-y-Moch. They had the opportunity to participate in lots of exciting activities, including: canoeing, kayaking, rock scrambling, climbing mountains and exploring mines. Some children climbed up a waterfall inside a mine to reach the top of it! All of the children showed great resilience when facing new challenges and with a little encouragement, many were able to overcome their fears. The Dol-y-Moch staff commented on what a resilient, respectful and determined group of children we had in Year 6. If you would like to see photographs of the children during their adventures, there are lots on the Moat House X (Twitter) account, which you can find: @Moat_House

On Thursday, the Year 6 children who did not go to Dol-y-Moch went to the Leicester Outdoor Pursuit Centre. The instructors were great, they showed the children how to safely perform manoeuvres and supported them in order to improve. Everyone had a go at climbing on the climbing walls and holding the safety ropes. With each go they had, the children's skills and confidence improved. In the afternoon, they found their inner 'Robin Hoods' during an archery session. Everyone had a fantastic time, despite all the mud!
