Last Week's News 7th Nov 25
6CB’s Class Assembly: It was lovely to watch 6CB’s class assembly on Friday 7th November – the children have been reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan. In this story, Percy discovers that his father is the Greek God Poseidon, which means that he is a demigod – half god, half mortal. We were introduced to many of the Greek gods (in the form of children from 6CB!) and they shared some of the myths they have been learning about, including Pandora’s Box and Theseus and the Minotaur. They also performed a very entertaining Greek rap, which was enjoyed by everyone! Thanks 6CB.
Ella Kinzett We were very fortunate to have a visit from Ella Kinzett (on Thursday 6th November). Ella is the captain of Sheffield United ladies football team and at 21, she is the youngest female captain in the league! Ella told us all about how she became a professional footballer, the importance of listening to her coaches and never giving up. She also told us about how exciting it was to win the FA Youth Cup when she was playing for Manchester United (she spent 10 years playing there even though she's a Manchester City fan) and how proud she was when she became captain at Sheffield United. At the end of the assembly lots of children asked her questions about her life and her career; she is a really good role model for them.
Early Years Trip On Wednesday 5th November, our Nursery and Reception children had a wonderful day out at Coombe Abbey for an Autumn walk. They explored the woodlands and found conkers, acorns and pine cones. During their walk, they spotted squirrels and mole holes. They then enjoyed splashing in muddy puddles and fed the ducks, swans and geese. To finish off a wonderful day, they enjoyed climbing in the playground with a particular favourite being the zip line! Everyone had a lovely day and most children were so tired, they fell asleep on the journey home!
