Last Week's News 24th October 25
Artsmark: We are really proud that we have just been awarded the gold Artsmark award. We were previously at the silver level and have worked hard to reach this higher level. The Assessors included the following in their feedback: Moat House Primary School has made impressive progress during its Artsmark journey, building a coherent and inclusive creative culture grounded in clear values and thoughtful planning. A particular strength lies in the school’s curriculum design and delivery, with the implementation of the Primary Knowledge Curriculum (PKC) for art and DT leading to improved outcomes, greater staff confidence, and enthusiastic pupil engagement. The use of QR codes in the school’s musical timeline, termly concerts, and integration of musical genres across year groups reflects a consistent and structured approach to embedding the arts in everyday practice. The school’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is also well evidenced.
Open Morning in Early Years: We would like to thank all the parents who joined us on Friday 24th October, to take part in our Diwali themed activities with our Early Years children. It was wonderful to see everyone working together, sharing in the celebrations and creating such a joyful and vibrant atmosphere.
Black History Month: Thank you to everyone who has supported us celebrating the end of Black History Month by dressing in cultural/traditional costumes. Mr Black also joined in the fun and wore his Scottish traditional dress, which included his kilt! It was wonderful to see so many cultures reflected throughout the school on Friday 24th October.
Disco Fun: Each of our phases enjoyed an Autumn disco in the week commencing 20th October and it was a fun-filled event with spookiness, dancing and plenty of smiles! The children came dressed in amazing costumes and shared their best moves on the dance floor. A big thank you to Richard (Marley and Colton’s dad), as he was in charge of the tunes and thanks to those who ran and supported the tuck shop – it was a huge hit and helped raise extra funds for the school!
Football Success: On Wednesday 22nd October, the school football team played a match against St Patricks. Near the end of the first half, Carter broke the deadlock with a smart finish into the bottom corner. The second half began with us keeping the ball really well until Planely scored the second goal with Monga and Leo also getting on the score sheet. In the final minute, St. Patricks scored a goal so we lost our clean sheet. The whistle was blown and the final score was 1:4 to Moat House. Everyone had a great performance but Carter stood out and got man of the match. What a great start to the season! (Reported by Bradley and Planely).
Dodgeball at AT7: On Wednesday 22nd October, Moat House competed in another dodgeball competition. Nine children from Year 4 took part and played against other local Coventry schools. The teams were only judged on respect, honesty and teamwork and not by scoring points. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and represented Moat House perfectly.
