Children in Need: Thank you to everyone who participated in helping to raise money for Children in Need by coming to school wearing their pyjamas on Friday 14^th November in exchange for £1 or purchasing merchandise.

 

Year 2 Author:       Year 2 took part in Michael Rosen Day on Thursday 13^th November. Michael Rosen is one of our Year 2 focus authors, so this linked perfectly with our love of books. We celebrated all day by reading, listening to and even writing our own poems. In the morning, we were lucky enough to join a live webinar where we watched Michael Rosen share some of his poems and books. This was interactive and had the children laughing out loud! 

 

Year 5: CO Crew:    (Written by Omniya and Yusra) On Thursday 13^th November, someone from the CO Crew came into school to talk to us about CO, which is a poisonous gas that can’t be seen, heard, smelt, touched or tasted. If your flames are orange, this is a sign that there is CO in your house. It could lead to dizziness, headaches and also fainting. CO can come from boilers, cookers and fire places. If you are feeling these symptoms, please contact 0800 111 999. You could get a CO detector; these cost around £15 or £16 and can be bought from hardware stores. If you think you have CO in your house, switch appliances off and evacuate. You should sweep your chimney (if you have one) once each year to make sure that it’s not blocked. CO is toxic and is made from carbon and oxygen (one molecule of each) and it’s not enough oxygen for us. Never use a barbecue inside because it could lead to CO inside your house.

 

Year 4 Football:     We are incredibly proud of our Year 4 girl's football team, who took part in an inter school tournament on Tuesday 11^th November With determination and teamwork, they secured two fantastic wins and showed great resilience in two tough matches. Every player gave their best effort, demonstrating sportsmanship, skill, and school spirit throughout. Win or lose, they represented us brilliantly, and we could not be more proud of their achievements!

 

Anti-Bullying Week:            In the week beginning 10^th November, our children proudly took part in Odd Socks Day, a fun and colourful way to celebrate individuality and remind us all that being different is something to be valued. The sight of mismatched socks sparked smiles and conversations about kindness, respect, and embracing uniqueness. Odd Socks Day marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week, an important national campaign that encourages schools to stand together against bullying. The theme this year highlights the power of 'positive actions'—whether it’s offering a kind word, standing up for a friend, or simply showing respect. Through assemblies, class discussions, sharing stories and creative activities, our pupils have been learning that small acts of kindness can make a big difference in creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone. By wearing odd socks, our children showed that it’s okay to stand out, and by engaging in Anti-Bullying Week, they demonstrated their commitment to standing up for one another. Together, we are building a school community where every child feels valued, included, and celebrated.
