Last Week's News 11th July 25
Whole School Picnic: On Friday 11th July, we invited parents and carers onto the school field for an end of year picnic. This was a great success and the children were also able to enjoy time with their families, as well as spending their pennies on the different stalls, the bouncy castle and the very popular ice cream stall, which was very much needed in this current heatwave!
3ML’s Class Assembly: We were treated to our final class assembly of the year by 3ML on Friday 11th July. The children sang a song to help them remember the 8x tables and Maizie proved that the song is actually working, as she was able to immediately recall the answer to 7x8! The children have also been learning about the ancient Egyptians and the mummification process – we were all surprised to learn that Tutankhamen became a pharaoh at only nine years old. Thanks 3ML – it was a great assembly!
Governors’ Awards: On Thursday 10th July, a special ceremony was held to recognise children at Moat House, who have worked hard or shown good behaviour or attitude during the summer term. The following children were awarded with a certificate and a voucher, in front of a very proud audience of parents, governors and staff, for their hard work and achievements.

Year 1 Trip: Year 1 were very excited about their trip to All Things Wild on Thursday 10th July. The children enjoyed seeing animals such as meerkats, camels, zebras and tortoises, as well as getting the opportunity to touch an armadillo, rabbit and gecko. They also had plenty of time to play and they explored a dinosaur trail or barn. What a fun, but very hot day!
Year 5’s Busy Week: Many of the Year 5 children had a brilliant time in Derbyshire in the week commencing 7th July and took part in lots of outdoor fun activities. Apart from the excitement of sharing a room with their friends, the highlight of the trip was the day trip to Conkers. They were able to choose between taking part in the low or the high ropes trail and most of the children faced their fear of heights to have a go. On Wednesday 9th July, a group of Year 5 pupils visited Tenpin Bowling. They enjoyed two games of bowling, time in the arcades, and a tasty lunch at Pizza Hut. All of the children behaved exceptionally well throughout the trip and represented the school brilliantly.
Careers Event: On Tuesday 8th July, our wonderful Year 6 children took part in our annual careers event, where our learners were interviewed by real life business owners and representatives for job roles, across many different sectors. The event started with students attending a job fair to find out about the jobs on offer. They were then asked to complete an application form and write a letter to support their submission. As with any other job, they then contacted the school office to arrange their interview time and date. The day started with children arriving at school dressed smartly for their interviews then, throughout the afternoon our interviewees took part in their interviews with our supportive volunteers. A huge thank you goes to Donna from RFG Financial, Matt from Selco, PC Watson from West Midlands Police, Allan from Grinsell’s Home and Garden Maintenance and our incredible school governors. We look forward to running the event again next year!
Early Years Trip: Our EYFS children had a magical day out at Cotswold Wildlife Park on Tuesday 8th July! They were wonderfully behaved and full of excitement as they explored the park. Highlights included the rhinos, giraffes, meerkats, and penguins, which were definite favourites! A fun mini train ride around the park added to the adventure and had everyone smiling. It was a special day full of curiosity and unforgettable moments. A big thank you to all of the staff and helpers who made it possible!
Attendance Reward: Children who have achieved 100% attendance for this academic year enjoyed a movie afternoon on Friday 4th July and watched the Life of Pets 2. Additionally for their excellent attendance, we held a random draw for a child from each phase to receive the star prize of a bicycle, with a helmet and a bike lock. The lucky winning children were Hosaena (YR), Jhelanni (Y1), Declan (Y4) and Joshua (Y6). These children will be rewarded with their brand new bikes before the start of the summer holiday.
