Music Lessons

In Upper Key Stage Two, children have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of music lessons throughout the year. Pupils explore singing, playing instruments and learning about rhythm, melody and composition. Both Year 5 and Year 6 also have the chance to learn to play the recorder, developing on the skills they learnt in previous year groups.

In Year 6, pupils cover a diverse range of music styles including: Pop/Neo-Soul, Bacharach and Blues, Classical, Gospel and 70s Ballad/Pop. They also have the opportunity to create music in their own style, inspired by women of the music industry.

In Year 5, children explore styles such as Rock, Swing, Pop, Ballad, Old-School Hip Hop, Motown and Classical.

These lessons help pupils develop their understanding of different genres, while building their confidence in performing and composing music. In addition to classroom learning, pupils are encouraged to perform in assemblies, concerts, and school events, giving them the chance to showcase their talents and experience the excitement of performing to an audience.
