  • Year 5s Busy Week:

    Mon 24 Jul 2023

On Monday 10th July, our Year 5 school councillors (Mariana, Kevin, Abdi and Brooklyn) visited Castle Wood to discuss ideas about what we should call the shared Forest School site. The nominated names were proposed as a result of both school councils having discussions with the children in their classes – watch this space to find out the final decision. On Tuesday 11th July, three Year 5 children (Aysam, Aria-Noelle and Raluca) travelled to the University of Warwick to represent Moat House at the Pupil Parliament. They worked in groups with other children from across Coventry to discuss things like being safe in our city, their aspirations and opportunities and the barriers to these. The children also had the opportunity to question a group of panellists made up from some of our cabinet members from Coventry City Council, representatives from Health, University of Warwick and from EON. Their questioning was very astute and they were all perfect representatives for Moat House. On Wednesday 12th July, a group of Year 5 children visited Soho Sonic Studios, which is a recording studio in London. The children travelled on an Avanti train from Coventry to Euston and then got to experience the London Underground. During the visit, the children got to record a song in a professional recording studio and were taught about the process of recording and editing a song. They then got to eat their lunch in a board game café. All of the children behaved brilliantly and had an amazing day.

  • School Day:

    Mon 10 Jul 2023

Just to confirm, the governors have ratified that from September 2023, the school day will begin ten minutes earlier at 8:50 am, meaning the classroom doors will open at 8:40 am. The end of the school day will not change – children will still need to be collected at 3:20pm.

  • Sports Day:

    Mon 10 Jul 2023

Sports day was held on Thursday 6th July and all of the children competed to earn points for their houses in a range of activities including discus, javelin, long jump and an obstacle course. We would like to say a huge thank you to parents, carers, friends and family for coming along to support the children.

  • Dogs’ Trust:

    Mon 10 Jul 2023

On Tuesday 4th July, Years 1 to 6 participated in workshops with Sarah from the Dogs’ Trust. We were told about the 'Five Happy Rules' for staying safe around dogs; these include: leaving a dog alone if it is sleeping, playing or eating, not hugging or squeezing them and always asking permission from an adult before approaching a dog. We were also told about the importance of caring for dogs, making sure they get enough exercise, learning basic commands and being treated as part of the family because they have feelings, too. • Brass Performance:

    Mon 10 Jul 2023

On Monday 3rd July we enjoyed hearing how our children have progressed in their brass instrument tuition this year. Philip, Zackarie, Tyrone, Ibtihaj, Leo, Sahr, Livia and Aysam (Year 5) played a range of brass instruments including the baritone and cornet and they impressed us all with their accuracy and reading of music – we especially enjoyed the finale: Let’s Stick Together by Bryan Ferry. Thanks to Mrs Alison for enabling our children to share their skills.

  • 2CD’s Class Assembly:

    Mon 10 Jul 2023

2CD impressed us on Monday 3rd July with their knowledge of dinosaurs. They told us lots of interesting facts as well as singing and reading a poem. We had good fun attempting to identify the dinosaurs from the clues that they gave us. A great assembly! Thanks 2CD.

  • Year 2 Trip to Conkers:

    Mon 10 Jul 2023

Our Year 2 children had the most incredible time at Conkers on Friday 30th June. They conquered an outdoor adventure trail, rode on a train, went on a treetop walk, explored a maze and to most of their disgust went on a barefoot trail through a sensory trail. From start to finish the children made precious memories. A great time was had by all! Meagan said, “It’s the greatest day of my whole entire life. I love it here!”

  • Year 6 Bowling Trip:

    Mon 03 Jul 2023

On Thursday 29th June, the Year 6 children were rewarded with a trip to Tenpin Bowling as a treat for their hard work leading up to SATs. The children all had a brilliant day and many even managed to get a strike! A few of the children demonstrated a great talent for the sport, with some managing to score over 100 points - Marghalara, Kalina, Favour, Xavier, Oskar and Rory were especially proud of their huge scores! All children were perfectly behaved and represented Moat House well, with some staff members even commenting on how brilliant their behaviour was. Well done Year 6.
