Parents’ Evening:

Thank you to everyone who attended the parents’ evening on Monday 28th November. It is important that we meet with you throughout the year so that we can update you with your child’s progress and attainment. If you were unable to make the date, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher, who will be more than happy to meet you at a more convenient time.

Safety Assembly:
On Tuesday 20th October, our local PCSO, Rachel Horton-Barr spoke to the children in their KS1 and KS2 assemblies about keeping safe at this time of year. She spoke to the children about the risks and dangers that they need to be aware about, especially if children want to celebrate and enjoy special events like Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night.

Firework Event:
Moat House Community Trust are holding a Family Community Firework event, including small fairground rides and a variety of hot foods and drinks on Thursday, 5th November 2015 from 5.00 – 7.30pm at Moat House Leisure & Neighbourhood Centre.  Doors open at 5.00pm with the firework display starting at 6.15pm.

Moat House Campus car park will be available for parking from 4.30 until 7.30pm.  We would be grateful if you could return to your vehicles promptly once the event finishes as the car park gates will be locked at 8.00pm.

Library Visits:
In the week beginning 12th October, 5HT, 6JK, 1JS and 2ET all enjoyed their trip to Bell Green library. The library staff were very impressed with the children’s behaviour and attitudes: “We have really enjoyed the last week of class visits from Moat House School, the children have been so well behaved and very enthusiastic.”

The library staff have also been in contact to answer some questions that have been raised by children and parents. For your information:

  • the children’s library cards can be used in any of the Coventry City Libraries,

  • the books they have borrowed can be returned to any of the Coventry City Libraries on or before the date stamped (four weeks),

  • there are no fines for late returns for children under 8 years old,

  • the fines for late returns for children 8 years old and over are 12p per day per item,

If any parents/carers are concerned about getting the books back to a library on time please phone or email Bell Green Library (the details are on the leaflets that should have gone home with each child) on 024 76785818 or, or one of the other Coventry City Libraries The library staff can then renew the items for another 4 weeks.

If books, or library ticket become lost please can you contact the library, as the library would rather know earlier so they can try and resolve this without any fees having to be incurred.

Library Visits:
We are very lucky to be able to take our children to our local Library in Bell Green, in the next few weeks. Please find the date below that your child’s class are planning to go. Your child will be sent home with a letter and an application card, in order to join the library. If your child returns his/her card in good time, he/she will be able to borrow a book on the day that the class visit the library.

The car park continues to be very busy at the start and end of the school day and I would encourage you to walk with your children if at all possible, as we have limited parking on site. If you have no option other than to drive, can I please ask that you park safely and appropriately to ensure the safety of the children. I have asked the Site Service Officers to monitor the situation and supervise the parking arrangements. Any parents who choose not to park safely or whose driving may put our children at risk will be refused entry to the site. We are very lucky to have the opportunity to drop children off on site and not on the roads outside – which has been the case at my previous schools. Can you please support us by driving and parking safely so that we can continue to do this.
